Engineering Technician

Job Description

Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical support tasks to engineering and stormwater customers (both internal and external). Work shall involve the application of engineering skills and knowledge gained through training and experience to provide information on a wide variety of existing information and proposed projects in order to help facilitate architects, engineers, landscape architects, and surveyors engaged in the planning, design, and construction of projects. Work shall also include the functional aspects of responding to Public Works desk requests (walk-in or telephone calls) from customers and providing the technical support to staff on incoming and outgoing projects under review through the Land Development Office tracking software. General assignments are received requiring the use of independent judgment and initiative. Work is performed under general supervision.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responds to all forms of customer requests for information on existing and proposed projects• Tracks all incoming and outgoing submittals of plans to Engineering and Stormwater through Land Development Office tracking software. • Processes incoming applications and fees for Development Review, Engineering Inspections, Permitting, and Contracting. • Responds to customer requests on types of processes needed for specific types of plan approvals. • Performs location searches for customer projects on existing and proposed; plans, profiles, as-builts and records and provides appropriate copies as requested. • Performs a variety of technical engineering support duties associated with the planning, design, and construction of streets, avenues, traffic ways, sewers, drains, stormwater, water and sewer system improvements, for projects, both public and private. • Greets and directs customers, performs general office support functions by filing, entering data, copying documents, and answering mail. • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. State Accredited Community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. • One or more years of related experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

Grounds Supervisor

Job Description

Under occasional supervision, performs supervisory and administrative work in area
of landscaping and grounds maintenance to ensure necessary projects are completed in an efficient,
safe, and timely manner. Work involves coordinating and supervising the district-wide
landscaping/grounds and heavy equipment maintenance program. Employee makes assignments and
oversees projects to completion, which may include the use of contracted services. Duties require
working with the administration in determining project requirements, project cost assessments, and
course of action for completion of projects. Employee must exercise independent judgment and
initiative in performing assigned duties. Tact and courtesy are required in frequent contacts. Reports to Director of Maintenance Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of grounds crews, and other staff.
2. Manage four subordinate leadsmen to supervise a total of eleven employees in the grass and
athletic field crews. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this
unit. Directly supervise six non-supervisory employees. Carry out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
3. Direct workers engaged in ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming
hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
4. Requisition tools, equipment and supplies.
5. Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards.
6. Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job
assignment.
7. Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.

to ensure necessary projects are completed in an efficient and timely manner. Work involves performing a variety
of skilled carpentry repair tasks requiring an indepth knowledge of building trade skills. Duties require working
with the administration in determining project requirements, project cost assessments, and course of action for
skilled carpentry projects. Employee must exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in
performing assigned duties. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with subordinate
workers, supervisors, and various department heads. Reports to the Executive Director of Maintenance.

RESPONSIBIITIES & DUTIES:
1. Plan, supervise and direct work of structural section and staff.
2. Prepare and maintain records and reports summarizing monthly maintenance and repair work preformed
as required.
3. Inspect the condition of the buildings to determine needed repairs and maintenance.
4. Assist the Executive Maintenance Director in the preparation and oversight of the maintenance budget
and maintenance cost account records
5. Work with the Executive Maintenance Director in establishing short and long range goals.
6. Assist in the preparation of specifications for materials and equipment required.
7. Supervise and appraise performance of structural section staff.
8. Coordinate system’s efforts on environmental concerns such as asbestos, lead paint and related issues.
